Sooooo Summer is upon us, but fear not, it’s never too late to make those little changes to make a huge difference in helping you reach those summer body goals…
Gym Bunny’s Eats:
A healthy diet has always been important for me, but learning more about Fitness and Nutrition has fuelled my passion for fresh, locally sourced vegetables and meat, healthy snacks and loads of herbal teas and water!
I never deny myself a little treat here or there, but instead of a sugary chocolate bar, I’ll reach for some 70% dark chocolate and find that I crave sugar less and less.
When I’m on the go, I’m all about carrying little lunch boxes full of fresh fruit and dried nuts to keep hunger at bay! Think a handful of almonds or brazil nuts pre-workout and perhaps a nice homemade chicken and crunchy vegetable stir-fry post workout! I don’t exactly believe in ‘everything in moderation’ as some foods just don’t suit everyone- it’s about finding what works for YOU! But, in general, start by focusing on fresh produce, whole foods- lots of meat, poultry, eggs, vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds, and you will easily feel better in just a few weeks!
Try swapping your regular tea and coffee for green tea- full of anti-oxidants and is nature’s very own fat burner!
Summer Body Blast!
Left it a little close to the Summer Holiday before hitting the gym?
Grab a buddy and get out into the fresh air for a fast-paced 45 minute walk three times a week. Your head, heart and body will thank you for it! On top of that, twice a week try some high-intensity at-home body circuits such as:
- Walking Lunges
- Jumping Jacks
- High Knees
Do each of these for 30 seconds and take a 10 second break after you complete all four. Repeat X 4
This kind of program is excellent to target any wobbly bits and is ideal for those short on time, or for those who hate the gym!
Why not challenge yourself to the 30 day squat challenge to tone up your thighs, hips and bum! Each day you throw in a few more squats and by day 30, you’ll be dying to get into your favourite bikini!
