KingSmith WalkingPad G5i Review: A Folding Treadmill That Climbs
The G5i is KingSmith’s first folding treadmill with a powered incline: up to 18% across 25 levels, speeds to 16 km/h and a deck that folds in half. It is a treadmill rather than a walking pad, and at โฌ1,699 it costs several times more. This review sets out what you get for that, and when a walking pad is the smarter buy.

What the G5i gives you
What the manufacturer’s images show, and what each feature means in a normal Irish home.

18% incline across 25 levels
The G5i is the first WalkingPad that folds and still climbs: an automatic incline up to 18%, set in 25 steps from the SpeedDial or the app. Incline walking raises the effort at the same speed, which is the main reason to choose this over a flat walking pad.
Incline training is harder on knees and hips than flat walking. Build up gradually, especially if you are returning to exercise.

Folds in half, stores upright
The deck folds in half with a foot-operated release, and the machine can be stored flat or stood against a wall. Folded it is 116 x 85 x 26 cm, which is compact for a running treadmill but far bulkier than a walking pad.
At 68 kg this is not something you move casually. Decide where it will live before ordering.

Room needed: 164 cm unfolded
Unfolded the G5i measures 164 x 85 x 111 cm, with a 130 x 50 cm running deck. That is a proper treadmill footprint, so measure the space, ceiling height for incline, and the door you need to carry it through.
Manufacturer figures. Allow clear space behind the machine for safety.

SpeedDial control and KS Fit app
A single dial changes speed: quick turns jump by about 5 km/h, slow turns fine-tune by 0.1. The display shows live stats, and the free KS Fit app adds programmes that adjust speed and incline for you, plus Apple Watch heart rate.
App features can change over time and some third-party apps need paid subscriptions.
Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- 18% automatic incline across 25 levels, the steepest in this folding category.
- Runs to 16 km/h with a 4.5 HP brushless motor.
- 136 kg maximum user weight.
- Folds in half and stores flat or upright.
- Arrives fully assembled, with SpeedDial control and app programmes.
Limitations
- โฌ1,699 is many times the price of a walking pad sold in Ireland.
- 68 kg, so moving it regularly is not realistic.
- 164 cm long unfolded: it needs a dedicated space, not a corner of a desk.
- 1-year warranty, with support handled from outside Ireland.
- Brand new model, so long-term reliability is unproven.

Who the G5i suits
Good fit if you
- Want to run and train on incline at home, not just walk.
- Have a room where a treadmill can live, but want to fold it away between sessions.
- Are training for hills, hiking or a race.
- Have the budget for a full treadmill.
Look elsewhere if you
- Mainly want to add steps while working: a walking pad does that from โฌ99.99.
- Need to move and store the machine daily.
- Want incline without the running features: auto-incline walking pads start at โฌ169.99 in Ireland.
- Live in a small flat with no permanent space.
How we rated the G5i
The overall rating is the average of four equally weighted scores, based on documented specifications and current prices. It is not a hands-on test result.
| Category | Score | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Performance | 4.5 | 16 km/h, 4.5 HP brushless motor and a 136 kg limit: genuine running specs. |
| Incline | 5.0 | 18% across 25 automatic levels, the steepest we have recorded on a folding machine. |
| Storage | 3.5 | Folds in half and stands upright, but 68 kg and 116 cm folded length. |
| Value | 2.5 | โฌ1,699 against Irish walking pads from โฌ99.99, though nothing cheaper offers this incline and speed. |

WalkingPad G5i FAQs
Is the WalkingPad G5i a walking pad?
Not really. It is a folding treadmill with handles, a 130 x 50 cm deck and a 16 km/h top speed. It folds like a walking pad but it is a full treadmill in size, weight and price.
How much is the G5i in Ireland?
The official EU KingSmith store listed it at โฌ1,699 on 17 September 2026, with free shipping in Europe. There is no separate Irish store.
How steep is the incline?
Up to 18%, set automatically across 25 levels. That is steeper than any Home Fitness Code model sold in Ireland, where the maximum listed is 15%.
Can you run on it?
Yes. Speeds go to 16 km/h and the 4.5 HP motor and 136 kg weight limit are built for running, unlike walking pads that stop at 6 to 10 km/h.
Does it fit in an apartment?
Folded it is 116 x 85 x 26 cm and can stand against a wall, but it weighs 68 kg. It suits a room where it can stay put rather than being moved daily.
Is there a cheaper way to get incline?
Yes. Home Fitness Code lists auto-incline walking pads from โฌ169.99 in Ireland, up to 15% incline, though they are walking machines rather than running treadmills.
Is the G5i right for you?
The G5i does something no walking pad does: real running speeds and an 18% powered incline in a machine that folds away. If that is what you want and the budget is there, it is a serious piece of equipment. If your goal is simply more daily steps at your desk, a walking pad costs a fraction of this and does that job well.
